Annual Christmas Appeal
If you knew a young person within your extended family was living with a parent suffering with a Mental Illness – Wouldn’t You Want the Best Support for them?
The alarming Mental Health facts:* **
- 50% of Australians will experience a mental health problem at some time in their lives.
- The Gold Coast has a population of around 540,000 - 600,000, with around 27,500 children and adolescents.
- Roughly around 21-23% (or 27,500 children) could be living with a parent or carer who has a mental illness.
- These kids and teens are at a four-fold risk of criminally offending, have a higher youth suicide rate, and have higher than normal risks of injury and illness themselves.
- More importantly, children who have parents with a mental illness don’t always get the support and chances other kids do.
